Australian Student Visas & Graduate Visas

Applying through Hallam for student visa.

Background

Australian student visas allow you to study in Australia, offering a unique opportunity to experience life in Australia while having access to a world-class education system. If you intend to stay in Australia for an extended amount of time, an Australian Student Visa may lead to permanent residency.

After obtaining an Australian qualification, you may be able to use it to gain points for a general skilled migration visa application or to apply for an employer-sponsored visa if you find a company prepared to sponsor you.

The Australian Graduate Visa is a temporary visa that allows international students to live, study and work in Australia once they have completed their studies. To apply for this visa, you will usually need to be under 50 years of age; hold an eligible visa; have held a student visa in the last 6 months; and have a recent qualification in a CRICOS-registered course.

There are three separate streams under the Australian Graduate Visa
  • Seeking immigration lawyer Sunshine Coast help.
    Graduate Workstream

This stream is for international students who have recently graduated and have skills and qualifications relevant to specific occupations in Australia. It allows you to temporarily live, study and work in Australia.

  • Sunshine Coast expert immigration lawyer consultations.
    Post-Study Workstream

This stream is intended for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian institution. It allows you to temporarily live, work and study in Australia.

  • Sunshine Coast immigration lawyer services available.
    Second Post-Study Workstream

This stream is for holders of a first Temporary Graduate visa in the post-study work stream who graduated from an Australian institution in a regional area and have a degree. It allows you to temporarily live, work and study in Australia.

Student Visa 500

The Student Visa 500 allows genuine international students to enter Australia to study in the country temporarily. A Student Visa is normally required if you plan to study in Australia for more than three months.

In general, to obtain a valid Student visa, you must demonstrate the following: you are enrolled in a course of study; you are a genuine and temporary entrant; you have a sufficient level of English language skills; you have sufficient levels of health insurance; you will have access to necessary funds for the duration of your stay in Australia; and you meet relevant health and character criteria.

With this visa you can participate in an eligible course of study in Australia, travel in and out of Australia and work up to 40 hours in a 2-week period once your course starts.

Student Guardian Visa 590

The Student Guardian Visa 590 allows you to stay in Australia as the guardian of an international student (under the age of 18) who is studying on a Student Visa.

To obtain this visa, you must demonstrate that you are a Genuine Temporary Entrant; that you have sufficient funds for airfares and living expenses; that you meet health and character requirements; that you have acceptable health insurance; and that you will not bring family members younger than 6 years of age, except in certain circumstances.

With this visa, you can come to Australia to care for and support a student visa holder under the age of 18 (or over the age of 18 in exceptional circumstances) and undertake an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) for less than 20 hours per week or any other study or training for no more than 3 months. However, you are unable to work.
