If you want to come to Australia to work, you will need an Australian working visa that is appropriate for the job you will be doing.
A work visa allows you to come to Australia for a short period and work certain types of occupations or work with a specific company. A provisional visa can be a temporary visa that opens the door to a permanent visa. You may be able to apply for a permanent visa based on your provisional working visa.
Employer Nomination Scheme 186 Visa
The 186 visa allows skilled individuals who have been nominated by an employer to live and work permanently in Australia.
This visa requires an offer and acceptance of skilled employment in Australia. It is also essential that you must have all of the relevant qualifications and/or work experience to be able to fill that position.
The Employer Nomination Scheme visa has 3 streams:
Temporary Residence Transition Stream
For holders of a Temporary Skills Shortage (482) visa who have worked for their employer for at least three years in the same nominated position and the business wishes to offer a permanent position.
Direct Entry Stream
This stream is for applicants who have not held a 482 Visa in the last three years, have substantial skills and experience in the nominated position and have acceptable English language ability.
Agreement Stream
For applicants who will be sponsored by an employer under a labour or regional migration agreement.
The 494 visa allows approved applicants to live, work and study in Australia's specified regional areas.
It is intended for regional employers to address identified labour shortages in their region by sponsoring skilled workers in circumstances where employers are unable to find an appropriately skilled Australian worker.
Workers who are granted the 494 Visa will be able to stay in Australia for 5 years from the date the visa is issued, will be able to travel to and from Australia as many times as they choose during that time and will be able to apply for permanent Australian residency beginning November 16, 2022.
The 491 visa is designated for skilled individuals nominated by a state or territory government to work in regional Australia. It allows successful applicants to live, work, and study in designated regional areas of Australia.
Workers who are granted the 491 visa will be able to stay in Australia for 5 years from the date the visa is issued, will be able to travel to and from Australia as many times as they choose during that time and will be able to apply for permanent Australian residency beginning November 16, 2022.
The Skilled Independent Visa is a permanent residence visa for people who have the qualifications and skills needed to meet Australia's skill shortages but are not sponsored by an employer, family member or a state or territory government.
The 189 visa allows invited workers and New Zealand citizens with the necessary skills to live and work permanently in Australia. The visa will allow you and your eligible family members to do the following:
Travel in and out of Australia;
Work and study in Australia;
Access to Government-subsidised healthcare (Medicare);
Apply for Australian citizenship once you become eligible;

This visa is an option for skilled workers who have the qualifications or skills but do not meet the points criteria for a Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189).
