Child Visa & Parent Visas

Partner visa applications in Noosaville Australia.

Background

Australian Parent visas allow parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents and eligible New Zealanders to obtain a visa in Australia. There are many types available depending on the age, duration desired for residence (temporary or permanent) and financial capacity.

Child visas are available to dependent, adopted and/or orphaned children of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

At JL Hallam & Partners, we understand the complexities involved in securing an Australian visa for parents. We stay up-to-date with the latest immigration laws and Australian Parent visa regulations, ensuring that our clients receive accurate advice and optimal solutions.

If you are a parent or guardian looking to bring your child to Australia, we can assist you in understanding the options available under the Child Visa category. For parents who wish to join their child in Australia, we offer guidance on Parent Visas. This includes the Contributory Parent visa, Parent visa, and Aged Parent visa.

Our dedicated team will guide you through the process, address any questions or concerns you may have, and provide the support you need to reunite with your child in Australia.

Contributory Parent 143 Visa

The 143 visa allows the parent of a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or qualifying New Zealand citizen to migrate to Australia permanently.

With this visa, candidates can migrate to or remain in Australia as a permanent resident, sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia and, if eligible, seek Australian citizenship.

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) 870 Visa

The 870 visa allows a parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to visit Australia for up to three or five years.

With this visa, applicants can reunite with children, visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years and reapply for additional Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visas to visit Australia for up to a total of 10 years.

This is a temporary visa that does not allow you to stay in the country permanently. Applicants who have applied for or have this visa are ineligible to apply for a permanent or temporary parent visa. Applicants are not permitted to work in Australia while holding this visa.

Aged Parent 804 visa

The 804 visa allows an elderly parent of a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia as a permanent resident.

Applicants with this visa can stay in Australia indefinitely, work and study here and enrol in Medicare. Applicants may also sponsor family members to come to Australia and, if qualified, apply for Australian citizenship.

Contributory Parent (Temporary) 173 visa

The 173 visa allows the parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or qualifying New Zealand citizen to stay in Australia for a limited time.

Applicants with this visa can stay in Australia for up to two years, work and study (without government support) and apply for a permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143).

Child 802 Visa

The 802 visa allows a child to reside in Australia permanently and live with their parents.

The child must be a dependent child of an Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian permanent visa. They must be under the age of 18, a full-time student aged between 18 and 25 or over 18 and unable to work owing to a disability, single, and reliant on the parent. The child must also be present in Australia at the time the application is submitted and remain in Australia until the visa is accepted.

With this visa, the child can reside in Australia as a permanent resident, study, access Medicare and, if qualified, apply for Australian citizenship.

Child 101 Visa

The 101 visa lets a child outside Australia move to Australia to live with their parents.

With this visa, a child can stay in Australia indefinitely, work and study here, and enrol in Medicare. They can also sponsor relatives to come to Australia and apply for Australian citizenship provided they meet the requirements.
